Life as a User Experience (UX) Designer at Hireup

Technology plays a critical role in shaping our society. It has a power to redefine the way we offer and find accomodation, like Airbnb. Or the way we approach transport, like Uber. This same concept can be applied to the disability sector, where it can disrupt and innovate the traditional models.

Hireup is an online platform that leverages technology as a platform to bring choice and control to the hands of Australians living with a disability, by enabling them to find, hire and manage their own support workers. Technology itself, has the ability to redefine social norms within the disability sector, and when this is coupled with a social impact model and creativity, it becomes a driving force for disruption and innovation.

Here’s a glimpse of what my role as a UX Designer in the Product Development Team looks like:

  • Project Discovery - deep dive into the challenges identified and needs of our community, and business

  • Project Alignment - identify and align project with the strategic business goals, metrics, whilst driven by the needs of our community

  • Design and Development - develop and guide the creative direction of solutions with the principles of access and inclusion embedded within the end-to-end process

  • Implementation - develop strategic plans for release management and impact measurement
